Everyone told me brick-breaker games died with the Nokia era. So I built one anyway.
Meet NovaBrick Rush — my own little arcade game, and the reason I haven't slept properly in weeks. It's a brick-breaker at heart: you, a paddle, a ball, and a wall of bricks standing between you and a high score. But I wanted it to feel like 2026, not 2006 — neon visuals, snappy controls, and that perfect "just one more round" pull that the classics had.
Why build a brick-breaker in 2026?
Honestly? Because the genre never actually died — it just stopped getting love. The formula is timeless: simple to learn, impossible to master, and deeply satisfying when you clear a tricky pattern with a single well-aimed shot. I wanted to make the version I'd want to play during a coffee break. No downloads, no sign-ups, no 10-minute tutorial. Open the page, move the paddle, break things.
Where to play it (free)
NovaBrick Rush is free and runs right in your browser:
- đŽ Play on GameFunLife — the home version
- đšī¸ Play on itch.io
- đž Play on Game Jolt
It's single-player, all ages, and works on desktop and mobile browsers.
What's next
This is only the beginning. I'm working on getting NovaBrick Rush onto bigger portals (CrazyGames and Poki are the dream), and I've got ideas for power-ups and level packs that I think you'll like. But first — go break some bricks and tell me your high score. If something feels off, I genuinely want to hear it. This game is being built in the open, with players, not just for them.
